Communal Offerings & Artist endeavors for social betterment

Mo HD Creation Labs was birthed when Mo HD Creations identified a gap in culturally rooted, exloritory art and creativity and the importance of these introspective spaces for both individual artists but also the communities that are exposed to their creations.

Directly responding to the need for spaces where people, especially those from historically excluded communities, can develop artistically and personally in ways that are culturally grounded and community-centered. Rather than treating art as enrichment alone, the Creation Labs position creative practice as a tool for growth, leadership, and belonging.

The marketplace:

show development retreat

A transformative, arts-centered experience for mid career developed artists to develop a new show entitled, β€œThe Market Place.”

Through creative practice, skill share, performance based workshops, reflection, cultural grounding, and leadership development the group will write a show that will be produced locally.

The program will host artists for a 5-7 day retreat in a remote location in Humboldt County California that will call for relaxation, introspective creative work and exploratory art practice and production.

Creative Roots:

Youth Arts Retreat 2027

A youth retreat designed to provide a transformative, arts-centered experience for young people through creative practice, reflection, cultural grounding, and leadership development. Guided by the mentor artists of the Market Place show development retreat and local Humboldt facilitators, youth participants from all over CA will engage in workshops that may include storytelling, movement, theater, visual art, design, and collaborative creation, while also participating in reflective activities that support identity, healing, and personal growth.

The retreat is designed as an immersive experience where youth can step away from routine pressures and enter a supportive environment focused on imagination, connection, and creative confidence. Participants will work together across disciplines, build relationships with mentors, and create original work that can be shared in a culminating performance, exhibit, or presentation. This is a free offering to participants.

Youth Social Justice Film Leadership Collective

The project will use film, media literacy, and collaborative production to help youth explore social justice issues, current events, strengthen leadership skills, and create original media that reflects their communities, concerns, and visions for change.

Youth participants will take part in a guided series of workshops that introduce them to storytelling, documentary practices, interview skills, media ethics, editing, and public presentation. The program will center issues that matter to local youth, including belonging, race, community history, voice, and social change. Participants will not only learn technical media skills, but also how media can be used as a civic and cultural tool.
